Our Burlington client has an immediate opportunity for an Accountant to join their team! Reporting to the CFO, the Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of properties, construction and land development projects. Overseeing the accounting operations for multiple business entities, this is a comprehensive position that requires a solid understanding of all aspects of accounting. This is an IN-OFFICE position working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting!

Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting
  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations
  • Provide monthly variance analysis
  • Perform regular bank and trust deposit reconciliations
  • Compile and submit required HST/WSIB/EHT remittances
  • Assist with monthly compliance reporting to lenders, Government, and partners
  • Coordinate and provide detailed information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Assist with preparation of the annual budget
  • Recommend appropriate changes to improve systems and controls
  • Assist senior management with organization of projects
  • Special projects and analysis as required

Job Requirements

 

  • Post Secondary Education in Accounting coupled with a minimum of 3 years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience 
  • Candidates must posses proven organizational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Exceptional communication skills are required in order to liaise with internal and external contacts effectively
  • This position is ideal for resourceful and self-motivated candidates who have the ability to work well in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong MS Office skills, including advanced Excel are required
  • Hands-on working experience with QuickBooks is required
