Our client, a leading professional services firm, is seeking a high-impact accounting leader to join their team. Depending on experience, this role may be positioned as Accounting Manager or Controller, offering the opportunity to step into a highly visible, business-critical position.
This role blends hands-on ownership of day-to-day accounting with the opportunity to be involved in meaningful strategic financial initiatives. This position requires a strong hands-on accounting leader with proven experience in full-cycle accounting, including AR, AP, cash flow management, month-end close, WIP billing, and revenue recognition.
Beyond this, the role will lead process improvements and system enhancements, support and develop accounting staff, and drive greater efficiency across financial workflows. The ideal candidate has supervisory experience, a track record of leading process or software changes, and the ability to train and mentor team members effectively.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting and finance operations, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Manage government filings and act as the banking liaison.
- Lead collection efforts on aging accounts and manage cash resources.
- Assist with tracking and reporting financial position, cash flow, forecasting, and cost controls.
- Produce accurate monthly P&L statements and weekly cash flow reports.
- Collaborate effectively with external partners (e.g., MNP, banks) and internal project managers.
- Participate in the management committee, administering meetings.
- Evaluate and improve existing accounting systems and processes, and propose more efficient alternatives.
- Contribute at a strategic level, providing financial insights and leadership beyond operational tasks.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of full-cycle accounting experience including AR, AP, cash flow management, general ledger, and month-end close.
- Experience from small to mid-sized organizations
- CPA is preferred
- Strong hands-on experience with WIP billing and revenue recognition (critical to the role).
- Experience leading accounting process improvements and/or software implementations
