Job Description
Our client, a large organization, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Supervisor to join their dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a CPA ready to take on significant responsibilities, lead a dedicated team, and contribute to critical financial operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and demonstrate strong ownership and accountability.
This role offers the chance to manage a crucial book of business and play a pivotal role in process improvements. You will work closely with the Controller and lead a team of bilingual accountants, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (1 day WFH/week) in Ottawa, ON or Montreal, QC

Responsibilities:

Assume ownership of the current book of business and all the associated complex accounting tasks.

Lead monthly financial reviews for stakeholders in English and French.

Supervise and engage a small team of direct reports, fostering a productive and high-performing team.

Ensure timely completion of month-end close processes and reporting requirements.

Implement and maintain internal controls, identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders, including operations personnel.

Manage multiple deliverables, demonstrating strong accountability and ensuring tasks are seen through to completion.
Qualifications:

CPA required.

Bilingualism in French and English (both written and verbal) is required

A Big 4 public accounting background is ideal.

Supervisory experience in a large company with multi-site, multi-entity operations is a strong asset.

Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple deliverables, take ownership of processes, and show strong accountability.

Experience in fast-paced environments and a proven track record of meeting reporting and filing deadlines.

Strong critical thinking skills and a comprehensive understanding of internal controls.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
