Our privately held, Canadian family owned/operated construction client is looking to bring on an Assistant Controller in a newly created role, due to the growth of business. The office is located in Hamilton, with the option to work from home 2 days/week. Reporting into the Controller and working with a team of 8 others, this role will be responsible for the transactional day-to-day accounting.

Please note: this position requires you to be in Ontario and in the local area, as this is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities:

• Complete journal entries, month-end and year-end duties
• Prepare financial reports for Operations
• Help update annual and quarterly budget/forecast templates
• Handle tax and government remittances
• Handle account and bank reconciliations
• Assist with GL accountability, monitor overhead and recoveries, expense review, cost control and audit preparations
• Monthly variance analysis
• Assist Controller with ad hoc requests
• Oversee all financial areas of Joint Venture (billings, AP, AR)
• Prepare working papers for external auditors

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years experience in similar role
• CPA an asset
• A steady individual who enjoys transactional work
• Construction experience an asset
