Job Description

Are you a seasoned Controller with 8+ years of experience and a passion for leadership, strategy, and driving results? We’re working with a large, Canadian-owned and operated company based in Burlington, currently seeking a sharp and driven Controller to join their growing team.

With over 450 employees and counting, this organization growing — and they need a strategic finance leader to guide the accounting function through their next phase of growth. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll lead a talented team of four and own the full spectrum of accounting operations, from financial reporting to audit management and M&A support.

Please note: this position requires you to be in Ontario and in the local area, as this is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise the accounting team, overseeing areas such as AP, AR, sales tax, inventory, fixed assets, and general accounting
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including invoicing, collections, inventory, fixed assets, and cost accounting
  • Identify and implement enhancements to internal controls
  • Lead CapEx planning, including annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting, while maintaining records and reporting
  • Assist in monthly financial reporting, including budget variance analysis
  • Oversee payroll functions, including approvals, commission reviews, and process improvements
  • Provide financial analysis for strategic initiatives, capital projects, and product costing
  • Manage external audit process
  • Liaise with external partners such as insurance agents and financial institutions
  • Support M&A activities, including performance reporting
  • Assist with bank reporting, including covenant tracking and forecast requirements
  • Mentor and develop team members through coaching and performance feedback
  • Stay current on professional standards and industry best practices


Qualifications:
  • CPA with 8+ years experience 
  • Must bring at least two of the following experiences:
  • Public accounting firm experience
  • Publicly traded company experience
  • Some private company controllership experience
  • Confident and good communication skills
