Are you a seasoned finance professional ready for the next advancement in your career? We’re excited to collaborate with a respected local manufacturing firm seeking an experienced Financial partner to join their dynamic team. In this leadership position, you’ll play a vital role in guiding the organization through an exciting period of growth by spearheading financial strategy and management.

As the Controller, reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll oversee key financial operations, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. You’ll also lead a dedicated team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. Your technical expertise and strategic mindset will ensure the company remains compliant with regulations, supports informed decision-making, and achieves its ambitious goals.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
  • Oversee financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, budgets, and cash flow analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards like Canadian GAAP or IFRS.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Develop and monitor budgets to align with company objectives.
  • Create financial forecasts to support strategic planning and business growth.
Internal Controls:
  • Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Regularly review processes to enhance efficiency and minimize risks.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Compliance and Auditing:
  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Manage external audits and prepare regulatory filings.
Cash Flow Management:
  • Monitor and optimize cash flow, including inventory management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Evaluate capital investment opportunities to ensure effective resource allocation.
Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and integrate technology for efficiency.
  • Oversee updates to ERP systems and provide recommendations.
Strategic Support:
  • Provide financial insights to the executive team to guide long-term business strategies.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • A CPA designation is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in financial management or a senior accounting position.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment with operational accounting experience. 
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the capacity to effectively manage multiple projects and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • A strong track record of collaborative teamwork across diverse functional areas, with the ability to influence decision making at all organizational levels.
