Our client, an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality consumer products, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Manager of Cost Accounting to join their Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual eager to challenge existing processes, optimize ERP systems, and drive operational improvements.
As Manager of Cost Accounting, this individual will report to an experienced Senior Manager, Accounting and play a pivotal role in serving as the ERP SME, leading month-end and monthly close processes, and contributing to various financial analyses and reporting. This role also involves assisting with crucial process improvements and cross-functional collaboration, offering exposure to higher-level operations and direct collaboration with managers across departments.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the ERP system, overseeing system configuration, maintenance, and updates
- Lead and manage all ERP-related aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on manufacturing variances by department, as well as Labour and Overhead absorption reports
- Develop and maintain checklists, workflows, and documentation for the close process
- Generate a quarterly report on Finished Goods by SKU/Product family, providing information on YTD Sales, Margins, on-hand inventory, in demand, on-order, usage, turns and weeks of inventory.
- Monitor and validate financial data within the ERP system to ensure accuracy, and generate detailed financial reports and dashboards.
- Identify inefficiencies and outdated workflows, proposing and implementing best-in-class solutions to enhance financial and operational processes.
- Conduct training sessions for new Team Members on the ERP and explain how costing works in it
- Partner with Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams to align ERP functionalities with business needs, and review variances and highlight issues.
- Act as a liaison between Finance and IT for ERP-related projects, and provide guidance to Purchasing and AP team members on proper utilization of GL accounts.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environmen
- Background in cost accounting
- Proficiency in financial reporting, reconciliations, and data analysis
- Advanced Excel skill
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
