Job Description
Our client, an established retail company located in Kitchener has an opening for a General Accountant to join their team! The General Accountant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including assisting with month-end, intercompany transactions, journal entries, bank reconciliations, processing payroll, and more. Responsibilities:
- Assist with the month-end and year-end processes.
- Prepare invoices and process payments for two business entities.
- Handle intercompany transactions.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
- Act as back up for AR and AP.
- Processing biweekly payroll including calculating stat pay.
- Assist with process improvement and software upgrades.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
Requirements:
- Must have an education in accounting.
- 2+ years of general accounting experience and working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Strong Excel skills (V-LOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, IF statements)
- Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn.
- Experience with process improvement and software upgrade implementation would be an asset.
