Job Description

Our client is one of Canada's largest marine transportation providers.   They operate  throughout the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, East Coast and in the Canadian Arctic.  They are growing and looking to add an HSQE Lead to their team.  The HSQE Lead role is a vital part of the team.  Reporting to the Operations Risk Management Manager, this role will be heavily involved in the internal safety audit process.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Health and Safety practices across the organization
  • Collaborate on the continuous assessment and improvement of practices
  • Support incident investigation, resolution and management
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments
  • Manage document control and certification updates for compliance
  • Manage both the internal and external audit process and metric reporting system
  • Participate in creation and implementation of corrective actions
  • Assess potential hazards on new jobs
  • Assist with onboarding and safety training of new employees
  • Visit company sites as needed (20-30% travel)
     
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years in a Health and Safety role
  • Post secondary education in Health and Safety
  • Hands on experience working with Federal and International laws
  • On site experience required in  mining, heavy equipment, oil & gas or marine industry
  • Auditing experience in a Federal environment required
  • CPR certified trainer experience
  • Experience in the marine industry considered an asset
