Job Description
Our client is an established and successful transportation service provider based in the KW area. Due to growth, they are hiring a Permit Technician for a full-time permanent position that has great potential for advancement and growth. This role would best suit an organized, detailed person that has 3 or more years of experience in ordering permits for over-sized and over-dimensional freight, and/or fuel and trip permits.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with transportation specialists to ensure efficient delivery times
- Plan routes while considering the relative costs and benefits of potential routing to suggest the most appropriate one
- Order oversize/overweight and super-load permits online, by telephone, fax or email for all Canadian Provinces and US States
- Order Route Surveys
- Assist customers with the scheduling and dispatching of pilot cars and police escorts
- Stay informed on the various types of equipment in the industry
- Stay informed on the various regulations and travel restrictions in Canada and the United States
Job Requirements
- 3+ years experience with ordering permits for over-sized/over-dimensional freight AND/OR fuel and trip permits
- Prior trucking or pilot car experience preferred (but not required)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong data entry skills and attention to detail/accuracy
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
- Able to work independently
- Able to plan and prioritize multiple duties while working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Willing to learn and accept responsibility
- Able to work overtime or flexible hours when needed
- This is an in-office position; hours are 9-6 or 8-5
