National Controller
Job Description
Our Canadian owned and operated services client is looking for a National Controller to join their growing organization. A team of 11 will report into you across the region, as you oversee day-to-day accounting functions. You will get the chance to develop and implement various controls and drive functions across the platform. The group office is in Hamilton and travel will be required across the region to each business location. This entity grows through acquisition, so there is plenty of room for development and growth within, as they continue to thrive.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial accounting and reporting, corporate consolidation, cash management, payables, inventory, payroll, credit/collections, fixed assets, and leases.
- Asses current, and develop/implement new systems, controls, processes/procedures and policies.
- Work with senior leadership on reporting and reviewing annual operating results
- Lead AP/AR functions; EFT payment runs, wire transfers, reconciliations, investigations, foreign exchange purchases, and intercompany transactions. Deposits, cash handling, customer setup,, credit/collections.
- Ensure consistent cash flow, identifying problem areas and create solutions
- Manage Treasury, Billing functions, Month End Close, and Reporting
- GL Management – Perform month end procedures, approve and post all GL entries/inter-company transactions, and perform reconciliations.
- Manage the preparation of payroll for employees. Review and approve all payroll input data for third party payroll services.
- Compile data, statistics, metrics, and other information to assist with corporate planning, targeting, budgeting, monthly forecasts and goal attainment.
- Lead the monthly financial statements preparation
- Prepare government/ministry and/or statutory reporting as necessary
- Prepare year-end financial statements with external accountants and tax advisors.
- Prepare tax returns and HST
Qualifications:
- 7+ years at a Senior Management Level
- CPA strongly preferred
- Public accounting background OR from a large corporation
- Must be a strong communicator and leader
- Manufacturing or service industry experience a big asset
- Acquisition and consolidation experience a big asset
