Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Supervisor to join their team on an 8-month contract! This is a flexible hybrid opportunity!

This opportunity will play a key role in overseeing payroll operations for a large and complex workforce of over 1,400 unionized and non-unionized employees. Leading a team of two payroll professionals, the Payroll Supervisor will ensure accurate payroll processing, manage year-end activities, and support audit readiness.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily payroll operations for 1,400+ union and non-union employees
  • Supervise and support two direct reports, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all payroll processes.
  • Lead year-end payroll activities, including reconciliations, adjustments, and T4 preparation.
  • Prepare and organize audit working papers and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements, employment standards, and taxation requirements.
  • Partner with internal departments and external auditors to resolve payroll-related inquiries.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and workflow efficiency.
     

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including team leadership or supervisory exposure.
  • Available to start immediately 
  • Experience managing payroll for a large, unionized employee group 
  • Proven experience with year-end reconciliations, T4s, and audit preparation.
  • PCP or PLP designation through the National Payroll Institute preferred; non-designated candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered.
