Our Kitchener construction client is poised for continued growth and has an immediate opportunity for a Project Accountant to join their team! Reporting to the Controller, the Project Accountant will be responsible for developing and managing budgets for multiple construction projects, optimizing financial performance. This is an integral role which collaborates with multiple departments. This position requires candidates who have experience working in the construction industry. Responsibilities include:
- Develop the scope of work, schedule, estimate and contracting plan for multiple projects
- Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projects ensuring vendor and sub-contractor invoices are actioned in a timely manner
- Create and maintain projects in the cost control database
- Work closely with the accounting team to maintain project costing in the G/L
- Generate project budget and cash flow reports
- Prepare monthly project summary reports and provide insights on financial performance to senior management
- Assist the project teams with any inquiries or needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of project accounting experience in the construction or real estate development industry is required
- Candidates must be system savvy with MS Office and have hands on experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud or a similar platform
- This position requires exceptional communication skills as well as strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- The ability to work well in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting is essential for success in this position
