Job Description

My client, a Christian, private, non-profit organization dedicated to healthcare and hospitality is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for a proactive individual eager to contribute to a progressive organization undergoing significant expansion and to advance into an Assistant Director of Finance role within three to five years.

As the Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the monthly accounting process, participating in financial statement preparation, and contributing to budget and cash forecasting. You will also assist with crucial board and banking reports, as well as reporting requirements related to a new property mortgage. This position is designed for growth, offering increasing exposure to higher-level operations and direct collaboration with the Director of Finance.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including adjusting entries and reconciliations.
  • Produce accurate and reliable monthly financial statements, including consolidated reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit working papers and schedules for year-end audits, and participate in the coordination and planning of the annual audit.
  • Oversee AP, AR, and payroll general ledger imports, ensuring all financial functions are accurately reconciled monthly.
  • Prepare and maintain organizational cashflows and cash positions.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, collaborating with management and operations
  • Maintain strong financial internal controls and contribute to developing improvements.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation.
  • Support system implementation projects.

Qualifications:
  • CPA designation is required, or candidates who have written their CFE
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in long-term care, not-for-profit, or healthcare with Ontario Health is strongly preferred
  • Self-starter, independent, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.
  • Humble, hungry, and smart characteristics.
