Elby is recruiting a Senior Accountant for our client. This role is part of a small, hard-working, collaborative, and dedicated accounting team handling the accounting, investment, and tax reporting requirements of a privately held family company.
This is a hands on role that includes a broad spectrum of accounting and financial reporting requirements as well as payroll/ benefits administration for a large group of entities.

- Serve as accounting system Administrator (QuickBooks) including maintaining company and general ledger setups and changes, managing user access/passwords, supporting setup and modification of accounting reports and processes, maintaining back-ups, and acting as a technical resource for any accounting system-related issues, etc.
- Prepare government reports and payment remittances (as needed) including for GST/HST, corporate income tax installments (federal and provincial), WSIB, EHT, and other payroll source deductions (IT, CPP, and EI).
- Prepare weekly Cash Management reporting, ensuring that cash balances are sufficiently funded to meet anticipated payment obligations.
- Routinely reconcile various balance sheet and income statements accounts including but not limited to bank, A/R, prepaid assets, A/P and accrued liabilities and suspense, identifying, investigating and responding to any issues as they may arise.
Job Requirements
- Background in public accounting OR experience with a private small to midsized company
- Proficient in Excel - able to use pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
- Experience with payroll is a nice to have
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and/or Ceridian
